Welcome to They Drank The Water. I work in retail and anyone who has had the privilege to work with the public knows how stupid and idiotic that can be. In our wonderful retail world located in Ypsilanti(pronounced ip-sa-lan-tee or Ypsi- ip-see for short) we have more than our fair share of stupidity. We use a couple of euphemisms to describe having dealt with a less than bright person. They drank the water, there’s something in the water to explain the high level of stupid people that have came in and asked for assistance. Don’t drink the water or your such a customer is our way of warning each other that we are being difficult or stupid. These entries are my way of blowing off steam without having to worry about repercussions and to warn everyone not to drink the water.

I was called to the front of the store and a woman holding an ad paper was waiting for me. She asked where our digital scales were. I told her we didn’t carry them and she looked blankly at me. She then proceeded to point at a picture in the ad paper. I explained that it wasn’t my ad paper and I didn’t carry what she wanted. She unfolded the paper and isn’t this Harbor Freight. I let her know Harbor Freight was located about seven miles away. She then gazed around my store which has the name posted all about and very seriously replied “Really?” My employees and customers within hearing distance just looked at her in total amazement as I assured her we really weren’t. She drank the water. I’m telling you- stick with the bottled purified water, it’s probably a safer bet.
